A MOMENT TO BE HELD

Rebozo
closing ceremony

Cierre de caderas

This ceremony has roots in traditional Mexican postpartum care. The practices vary between parteras and communities, with knowledge passed from one generation to the next.

In this tradition, a mother is completely open after giving birth. The closing is a way of gathering body and spirit, returning to yourself and closing those channels. It works deeply with the subtle world, while keeping you held and supported with care and love.

Rebozos, traditional woven shawls, are gently wrapped around the body, offering a space to rest, feel held, receive care and honour the experience you have lived through.

We work with the body, the emotions and the meaning of what you have lived through. In postpartum, my intention is to support you in feeling more at home in your body, trusting yourself and connecting with your baby, while also recognising your own need for care.

I also offer this ceremony beyond postpartum, including for people moving through grief, pregnancy loss, experiences of abuse, depression or anxiety. It can mark a transition: a breakup, entering menopause, or finding yourself between an ending and a new beginning. You do not need to be pregnant, have given birth, or be a mother or a woman to receive it.

There is no single way to receive this ceremony. In my practice, I work with ancestral medicine and wisdom, and we take around six hours together. We begin with a conversation, and from there I personalise the ceremony around your story and what your body and spirit need.

I stay present throughout, holding the space and supporting you. There is room for conversation, silence, emotion or simply rest. We move at your pace, with care for your comfort and respect for your choices.

If this speaks to something in you, I would love to hear from you.

I hold a certification in cierre de caderas.
